Lego Stegosaurus Thrills & Batty Beast Bloke Spills

Big excitement today. Went to the library. Yes, I know that doesn’t exactly sound like a plane ride over the Alps but wait for it. They had The Beast Bloke. The Beast Bloke is this man who brings all sorts of wild animals into the library and lets them loose, just like all the Mums and their kids in fact, except the animals are quieter and better behaved. We went over first to see Simon and Jane McCormack (nice neighbours on the right) Simon was sleeping,‘cos he is a fireman and works on something called  “Night Ships” – which must be exciting, but Jane was there and while she and her sister and Mummy had coffee and nattering, I played with Jack and his cousin Brody, who was visiting too. Brody is seven and brought a superb LEGO Creator 4998: Stegosaurus and his LEGO Creator 4995: Cargo Copter. Believe me, there wasn’t a ‘Monster Attacks Civilisation’ cliché or Monster movie Moment we didn’t explore and at one point I was playing Godzilla being attacked by the copter while Jack fired jellybeans at me from his Lego Dwarves’ Mine Defender catapult. Brilliant.

Anyway, eventually we made it over to the library where we sat in awe and watched an Armadillo sniffing out some fruit (weird creature, like a cross between a tank and an anteater) a little rodent called a Small Five-Toed Jerboa, who was furry, cute and had – yeah you guessed it – five toes, a big bat being fed with grapes (he sucks the juice out, and then spits the rest out – just like me) then, the “peas de resistance”, a huge big python (named Monty for some reason) who they got crawling over kid’s tummies.  Sadly, one kid decided, way too late, that the python crawling across his tummy was really not a good idea and started to howl so loudly it upset the other animals. The Five-Toed Jerboa got out of the beast Bloke’s assistant’s grasp and disappeared out of view, the armadillo rolled into a ball and the bat wriggled loose, flew around the room and did a poo on a copy of The Cat in the Hat (Dr Seuss). Oh how I laughed. I never did like the look of that book. Eventually, when everything settled down and various yummy mummies had realised it wasn’t worth suing, the party broke up. When we left they were still looking for the Five-Toed Jerboa. We heard later. The good news was, they found him. The bad news was, they found him in the python. Apparently the Beast Bloke said that was very unusual and Monty was normally very docile but I have a theory.  Monty was probably jealous of all those toes – being a snake and having no toes at all to speak of – and was extracting his terrible revenge. What do you think?
